Description:

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Nursing within the Surgical Division
The quality of the Health Boards clinical care and the safety of its patients are fundamental to its excellence and the Deputy Head of Nursing is a key role, providing leadership, and professional support across a defined Division within the Service Group.
The deputy head of nursing will lead and motivate nursing staff across the Regional to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficient and effective service delivery, and that activity is fully aligned to the Service Group and Health Boards plans, strategies and values and behaviour framework.
Work within policy and professional guidelines, interpreting these to inform local policy and development and to improve practice. They will provide professional advice to a range of clinicians, managers and staff in
overseeing the provision of high quality, person centred care.
Responsible for the development, delivery and monitoring of the nursing and quality strategies, focusing on person-centred approaches to care in order to deliver a nursing service that prioritise the care needs of patients and embodies the principles of prudent healthcare.
Works with the Service Group management team to build and maintain strong influential relationships with colleagues, staff and internal and external stakeholders to enable the Service Group to develop a culture of collaborative working and commitment to delivering quality services and outcomes for patients.
Develops close working relationships with Staff Side representative and professional bodies to ensure the service group delivers on business objectives, modernisation of services and financial targets.
Uses negotiation and influencing skills to communicate effectively.
Develops a strategy for user and staff engagement with the service group.
Provide training, presentations and information to a range of groups comprising staff, members of the public, senior staff and colleagues from Health Board or partner organisations and stakeholders.
Facilitate and participate in meetings within and external to the Service Group that supports the delivery of professional, quality and safety and improvement agendas. Provide expert advice to colleagues in relation to nursing issues and professional practice.
Role models the maintenance of patient advocacy in all situations and ensure that communication takes place in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures and consistent with the level of understanding required, culture and organisational values.
Ensure nursing staff are fully engaged in the development and implementation of local improvement plans.
