Description:
To work with the Head of Optometry in leading the Optometry Department acrossMoorfields sites. To assist the Head of Optometry in the development of the Optometry Service. To represent the Head of Department, the hospital and the optometric profession nationallyand internationally. To deputise for the Head of Optometry on committees both internal and external to theTrust.
To assist the Head of Optometry in realising the strategic goals of the department. To be a clinical lead for optometrist within the service. To work with the Head of Department to ensure the hospital provides a comprehensiveOptometry Service, including national and international complex tertiary referrals. To assist the Head of Optometry with managing the Optometry Service (over 200 staff)across all Trust sites (City Rd, North and South Divisions).
To work alongside the clinical support service manager to ensure the requirements of theservice are met. Liaise with & support the optometrist leads for Moorfields Divisions to ensure that therequirements of outreach clinics and service directorates are met. Liaise with the optometry service leads to support the development of the optometristswithin the sub-speciality services. Ensure that adequate numbers of appropriately trained optometrists are allocated to theindividual elements of the service (optometrist staff rostering), liaising with lead cliniciansand managers across Moorfields divisions.
To be responsible for the day to day running of the Optometry Service in the City RdDivision. To manage Principal, Senior & Supervising Optometrists at City Rd. To ensure the Trustsappraisal system is employed & identify the training and development needs of optometristsand supplementary staff within the department
