About the team
The Gypsy and Traveller Service are the landlords for the 10 permanent and 1 transit site within Hertfordshire. In total this equates to 207 pitches throughout the County. We run and maintain the sites with a team of dedicated Site Officers with the backup of an in-house administrative function.
About the role
Effectively manage the day to day, operation of eleven sites provided by Hertfordshire Gypsy and Traveller services as a private landlord. To provide a site based first point of contact with Tenants of the Gypsy & Traveller Service, contractors partners and the public. To manage the site officer team and lead / co-ordinate services, facilities and projects as delegated by the Head of Service.
The role will be predominantly site-based coordinating with the main office for Gypsy and Traveller Services. Whilst there is not a specific qualification required the post holder will need to have extensive knowledge of the traveller community and / or have experience of working in a similar role. The role will manage and develop up to eight sites and a team of Site Officers to deliver a full maintenance and upkeep of services to the tenants and licensees.
Tenancy management is a significant part of the service, and the role will need to ensure enforcement of tenancy conditions and breaches across sites. This role will need to coordinate investigations and information gathering into tenancy breaches with the main office and follow up on compliance issues and breaches where required on site.
The postholder will lead on the supervision and management of site staff and other contractors directly employed by the Gypsy and Traveller Service. This includes the motivation, development, training, performance improvement of the team and will manage these processes in line with council policies and procedures.
