Description:

The Deputy Sister / Deputy Charge Nurse will undertake the management of the unit on a day-to-day basis in the absence of or in conjunction with the Sister/Charge nurse.
This challenging role involves providing excellent leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. You will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, progressing the patient pathway, managing critical care resources effectively whilst assisting in leading and developing a team of nurses.
We work cross site. The unit the Royal Hampshire County Hospital is a 9 bedded unit and at Basingstoke is a 18 bedded unit. We are a team of approximately 130 nurses and pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive reputation. Patients vary and we admit both medical and surgical admissions from the Emergency Department and the wards. We have an outreach service and this team works alongside the critical care team to ensure best care for our patients. The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Your main work base would be BNHH and will be required to work cross site in RHCH critical care, a shuttle bus runs regularly between sites.

To provide clinical leadership and support colleagues to plan, monitor and evaluate skilled and appropriate care for the critically ill patient and ensure the provision of evidence-based care. The post holder must act as a role model in providing specialist knowledge within critical care. You will work as part of a team supporting and developing colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.
The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Our Critical Care Unit at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital is split between two locations critical Care A and Critical Care B and operates 18 beds.
We accept emergency and elective work. As a team we specialise in caring for patient’s post-operatively following surgery for peritoneal malignancy and are one of only 2 sites in the UK recommended by NICE for this treatment, We are very proud of this and now seek a high performing Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly team.
