An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Deputy Sister/Deputy Charge nurse to join the team on SDEC.
12 Months Secondment to cover maternity cover
The role will offer you the opportunity to join us and coordinate the team on a daily basis in the absence of the departmental senior nurse. Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) team work closely with the Advanced Care Practitioners in supporting the Acute Physicians and Surgical Consultants in admission avoidance of emergency medical and surgical admissions. This role will include coordinating with the Emergency Dept and the Acute Admissions Unit (Maud Alex) to enable safe patient flow, ensuring patients are seen within a timely manner.
To manage the department on a shift basis in the absence of departmental senior nurse.
Work with the Senior Sister to provide leadership and development to the nursing team, ensuring equality, diversity and patient rights and safety are promoted.
To provide care to a group of patients in accordance with the NMC/AHP code of professional conduct, Trust policies and procedures.
Liaise with the MDT including CSM & ED to enable safe patient flow across the hospital ensuring patients are seen within a timely manner and are in a clinically appropriate setting.
Ensuring clinical governance guidelines are adhered to, including risk management and the use of audits to improve patient satisfaction and safety.
To perform procedures such as, but not limited to, ECG’s, cannulation, venepuncture, male and female catheterisation as well as wound management.
To contribute to the achievement of the Trust 4hour ED target.
Promote admission avoidance when supporting the Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP’s), ensuring that patient flow is optimised.
