DESCRIPTION:

Stantec UAE is looking to hire a Design Director - Healthcare to be located in Dubai and to lead the design practices for Healthcare within the Buildings Business Unit.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, Retain best people and create an inspired culture
  • Provide leadership to the Design delivery team with an inspired culture
  • In a proactive manner, identify recruitment requirements and work with the team to recruit the right candidates
  • Lead interviews of key technical positions
  • Support staff development and career development plans
  • Communicate often and in person – be present
  • Trust, empower and hold staff directly reporting to you accountable
  • Work closely with the discipline leaders in identifying successors for key positions
  • Dedicate time to mentor staff and provide regular feedback

Develop growth strategies, identify opportunities, and manage key accounts:

  • Work closely with the Regional Director – Design Services, Operations and Commercial Director, Project Managers and Discipline Leaders, to identify transformational ideas and areas for growth
  • Lead account management activities for key clients
  • Lead the preparation of all proposals
  • Review and provide input to technical proposal methodology and resources level of effort (LOE) needed to complete the scope.
  • Attend Client meetings, presentations in winning new work.

Technical Excellence and Innovation:

  • Excel in delivering quality and on time tasks/projects by working collaboratively with the Project Managers and technical teams.
  • Ensure QA/QC systems are followed ensuring quality work to be delivered to Clients
  • Work closely with the Project Managers and Discipline leaders to ensure that competent resources needed for project delivery are properly planned, assigned, and made available.
  • Be mindful of the budget of the projects to be delivered and ensure technical delivery is completed within the budget
  • Increase contribution to RNet (Resource Support from Pune) and work with the Discipline Leaders to continually improve the working arrangements with RNet.
  • Develop a strategy to increase automation of design activities and the reuse of templates.
  • Connect globally and bring best practices by promoting global connectivity at all levels.

Operational Excellence:

  • Support the Regional Director – Design Services in business planning related to client management
  • Achieve P&L targets by being accountable for the projects’ technical performance
  • Support the Operations & Commercial Director and Project Manager’s to identify change of scope and assist in demonstrating these changes to the client.
  • Work with the Operations & Commercial Director, Regional Director – Design Services and Discipline Leaders to prepare resource plans for projects in the pipeline on a rolling 6 months basis.
  • Establish billable targets for the technical delivery teams: direct and Indirect time.

Achieve Exceptional Project Performance:

  • Ensure that project resource planning is carried out appropriately and high degree of utilization is always maintained
  • Ensure that project reviews are conducted monthly and sign off on project status reports with focus on technical delivery issues.
  • Obtain feedback from clients on technical performance.

Success Criteria:

  • Projects are completed on budget, on time and to client satisfaction
  • Achieve high quality technical delivery
  • Technical delivery teams achieve utilization targets
  • Efficient use of RNet
  • High staff engagement and morale
  • Strong evidence of collaboration with other Directors, Discipline Leaders, Project Managers and Global Leaders.
