Description:
WHAT SKILLS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You will have a mechanical engineering qualification and/or previous proven experience in a similar role, with strong knowledge of materials handling, existing core products and sheet metal/SPM design, the ability to produce layout, assembly and detail drawings from a sketched idea, have full understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations, and have excellent problem solving skills.
You will have good communication skills, be a customer focused team player and possess a flexible, pro-active and methodical approach to tasks.

Responsibilities:
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE?
Designing and developing automation products and ancillary’s, introducing best practice design to provide solutions with high quality at optimal cost and within the time frame provided. Will directly interface with and support other departments such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales and Technical Projects, Quality, Customers and Suppliers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- High engineering skill, knowledge and experience in a machine design, being able to deliver detailed design from the concept backed up by appropriate calculations and formula.
- Demonstrate high standards of mechanical engineering using 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks) ensuring best design practices and contributing to a continual improvement program.
- High skill level in Detail Drawing for manufacture, understanding current manufacturing techniques in Fabrication and Machining. Consistently produces high quality drawings for suppliers to manufacture parts.
- Flexible and self-driven team player being able to use their own initiative to solve problems and to achieve goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills to deal with the response time pressures that can arise due to the nature of this industry.
- Responsibility for equipment / machine designs, BOM’s, development work, enquiries and value engineering activities on-time and to the correct specification, hygiene and quality standards.To ensure best practice design standards are adopted and continuously improved.
- To ensure full compliance with all the relevant regulations, legal requirements, customers specific Code of Practice, including UK Health and Safety Regulations, EC Directives, etc.
- To make positive contribution to continuous improvement activities.
- Establish good working relationship with and proactively liaise and negotiate with assembly teams, planning, purchasing, sales and other key members of all Departments in order to assure the success of the project and daily tasks.
