Description:
As a Design Estimator, you will provide design, pricing, planning and tendering services in accordance with Customer requirements and to contribute to the overall business success of Northpower. Reporting to the Design Estimation Manager, this position will be based either at our Tauranga or Matamata depot.
The key responsibilities for the Design Estimator position include, but are not limited to:
- Design according to customer specifications and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with Northpower, customer, and regulatory standards
- Achieve customer satisfaction and generate compliance reports
- Provide pricing for network and customer-initiated works
- Plan the delivery of primary works
- Prepare and negotiate tender and contract documentation
- Effectively hand over projects to Project Managers
- Document project information accurately
- Produce CAD construction and as-built drawings to customer standards
- Provide CAD drafting services and update network drawings
- Capture GPS data for design and as-built purposes.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?
We are seeking an experienced Design Estimator with a strong background in the industrial or commercial sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in design, estimation, and project planning.
To be successful in this role, you will also have some of the following skills:
- BE in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Diploma
- Clean Class 1 driver’s license
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in electrical distribution or transmission design
- Knowledge of Zone substation switchgear and equipment, Network HV and LV infrastructure, Overhead and underground services, Network reinforcements and Electricity supply distribution for new subdivisions
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Commitment to HSQE standards, proactive safety culture and Safety by Design principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and hands on experience in knowing Catan would be an added advantage
- Strong interpersonal skills, preferably in a multi-cultural environment
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Integrity, consistency, and composure
- Ability to motivate and influence others with strong customer focus
- Proficient computer skills with intermediate knowledge of the MS Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
