Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
Our Wealth and Personal Banking business supports millions of individuals, families, business owners, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide. We provide products and services that include current accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as savings, investments, insurance and wealth management.
To enable the delivery of the One WPB UK Strategy, HSBC UK is on a journey to fully modernise its end-to-end technology estate. This will allow all WPB UK brands to redefine its proposition to be truly customer centric and competitive in the market, whilst also becoming radically more efficient and resilient
To deliver this, a programme of work called Bank of the Future (BotF) is mobilising to initially focus delivering a new proposition built on an end-to-end modern technology stack to first direct. Backed by Group, Bank of the Future and first direct will act as the tip of the spear for WPB to push the boundaries on banking technology innovation and setting Group target technology standards.
We have an opening for a hands-on digital lead UX/UI designer (12 months fixed term contract) to drive and support delivering the most innovative digital banking experience to bank’s customer.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking and supporting the team in creation of best in class channel propositions and services following user centred design techniques and industry best practice, including research and customer usability testing, briefing and managing agencies where appropriate.
  • Leading the production of the digital experience design artifacts as part of user centric design activity, in line with committed timescales and methodology, securing approval from stakeholders as required.
  • Advocate for genuinely human centric design, systematising the use of UX research and the various insight tools and platforms at our disposal to bring the voice of the customer (and colleague) to the heart of all critical decision making.
  • Envision future experience design strategies beyond the known competition and create, inform, and present these explorations. Develop cohesive design plans, design concepts and prototypes to encourage creative, improve efficient delivery and enable effective evaluation with customers.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrable proven success in UX and UI design for consumer-facing products (iOS and Android) in banking/finance-related business areas such as acquiring, payments, personal financial management.
