Position Title – Design Manager
Location – Philippines
Salary – Fixed Term Salary

The Design Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the operations of the Design Department to ensure streamlined local design processes. Their role involves strategizing, coordinating, and supervising design tasks to align with production needs and fulfill contractual and external obligations promptly, within allocated budgets, and in accordance with quality standards.
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
- A minimum of 10 years demonstrated work experience preferably in an aluminium shipbuilding industry.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of industry ship design software
- Good knowledge of Imo Rules (preferably IMO HSC Code)
- Has managerial experience
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Naval Architecture or Mechanical)
- Desirable – Chartered Engineer
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Establish a proficient and professional Design department by strategically planning and executing resource allocation and recruitment efforts.
- Manage the design process for new projects, defining scope, technical requirements, regulatory constraints, quality standards, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Maintain project design schedules through effective planning, direction, resource forecasting, materials requisitioning, cost control, and analysis.
- Monitor department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and take corrective action in case of variances.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential pre-contract and emerging design risks in accordance with relevant specifications, policies, and procedures, ensuring timely resolution.
