Job Description
Strategy+, AECOM’s design consulting practice operates at the intersection of Business Transformation, Human Dynamics and Place Strategies and is looking for highly motivated Design Strategist who possess outstanding graphic representation, analytical, communication and design skills. The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team of talented Strategists and be responsible for supporting our consulting projects which encompass higher education, local and federal government entities, corporations, and healthcare. This role is to be based in Houston, TX.
Working as a collaborative team player, this individual will be responsible for excellence in delivering specific activities within a project, including client interaction, communication, planning, research, data analytics, visualization, presentation preparation and report writing, assisting junior team members, coordinating a project team, with oversight from a Project Manager, senior team members and Principal in Charge. Travel may be required.
Desirable Experience
Candidates will be expected to possess experience in one or more of the following:
+ Translating complex issues and solutions into graphically compelling client-facing documents
+ Business strategy, data analytics and operations planning
+ Change management strategies and organizational development plans
+ Communication strategy branding and marketing
Technical Skills Range
Candidates will be expected to possess skills in one or more of the following:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
+ Revit or other space planning / design CAD systems beneficial
+ Web based data analytics, visualization, GIS and presentation software
+ Proficiency in additional data analysis tools beneficial (Power BI, Tableau)
Culture and Personality
Candidates will be expected to possess as many of these attributes as possible:
+ Ability to contribute to workshops, focus groups and presentations
+ Critical thinking and concise persuasive writing skills
+ Familiarity with research methodologies and processes
+ Flexibility and the ability to lead multiple projects in multiple teams, across multiple markets
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s in Urban Planning or Architecture or related field + 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Design background in urban planning, master planning, or higher education with architectural experience
  • Experience in space programming and conceptual design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign)
  • Highly collaborative, highly communicative creative team player
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills – “Design Story Telling”

  • Sponsorship is available for this role
  • Offered rate of compensation (Texas locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,000-$105,000.
