Description:

Advance Wire Products Ltd. (AWP) www.awp.ca is North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of innovative merchandising solutions for the retail grocery, convenience, and pharmacy market. We are growing and have an immediate requirement for an experienced Designer/Estimator to join our Surrey team.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Designer/Estimator analyzes the scope of work and creates drawings and estimates for labour, material and time required.
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in engineering or estimating
  • Solid works experience
  • Experience: at least 3 years’ experience as an Estimator in a metal manufacturing environment
  • Experience reading blueprints
  • Excellent numerical analytical skills
  • Strong MS Excel and Word Skills, ERP or MRP experience an asset
  • Strong oral and written English
  • Able to work in a dynamic high paced environment
  • Eager and willing to learn and progress.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares diagrams, schematics, parts breakdown and interconnect lists from sketches, notes and instructions from the Sales Team.
  • Prepares working plans, drawings and complete layouts of parts, components, assemblies and systems in Solidworks.
  • Maintains documentation control of drawing revisions.
  • Ensures drawings comply with standards as set by Manager.
  • Reviews and updates existing specifications and drawings to incorporate requested design changes.
  • Estimates costs, manufacturing steps, and hours in a wood, metal and plastic fabrication production process.
  • Documents estimate in a worksheet for the sales team to use for quoting.
