Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience developing and implementing technical solutions for mechanical components to support new vehicle programs
  • Share information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed
  • Consistently demonstrate innovative thinking that is customer-centric

  • Previous DRE experience
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods (i.e., Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) – Green belt certification or higher, Red-X, Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA and GD&T Balance business imperatives, such as, mass, complexity, and timing

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Design Release Engineer responsible for the definition of requirements, design, development, and leadership of seat components. While integrating highly sophisticated and large scope programs, you will cultivate and support progress with assistance from applicable subject matter teams. This dynamic role interacts with a variety of partners and relies on your high level of creativity, initiative, and reasoning ability to be successful. Experience with product development, systems and/or components development and integration in multiple cycles of vehicle launch is preferred.

What You’ll Do:

  • Supports/leads design and technical reviews for components within seating systems
  • Defines ICD requirements for component and sub-system interfaces. Negotiates and reaches agreement with interfacing components, works with others to resolve issues
  • Leads/Supports PDT for component/subsystems. (e.g. timing, parts list, DFM, issue tracking)
  • Performs appropriate studies/alternatives, and supports program direction based upon cost, mass, timing, DFA, complexity and other commodity imperatives
  • Releases Production Design, on time, to meet commodity requirements
  • Conducts engineering and design reviews to insure 100 percent design fidelity
  • Experience in automotive seat development, engineering and manufacturing operations
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Leads the launch of new vehicle programs for Seat System Components at the GM assembly plants, Tier 1 seating plants, and applicable Tier 2 suppliers
  • Local travel up to 30%
