WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Experience leading desktop migration projects.
  • Experienced complex desktop / vdi environments with advanced troubleshooting.
  • Planning own work and the work of others (including third parties) to ensure delivery to time and cost.
  • Experienced in working in a high pressure environment to deliver a first class BAU Service.

Beneficial:

  • 5+ years’ experience of supporting server infrastructure in a large scale enterprise.
  • Degree level qualification or recent technology focused qualification such as MCSE or CCA.
  • Familiar with the specific standards associated with an IT practitioner’s current role: e.g. Health and safety standards;
  • change management; incident management and problem management standards; and common service focused frameworks such as ITIL Version 3.
  • Good general knowledge of IT infrastructure (hardware, software, database, networking and cloud technologies).

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An ITIL qualification preferably Foundation at version 3 or above.

Responsibilities:

OSE OF THE ROLE

Responsible for providing engineering, of desktops within the Client Services Desktop Engineering Team
Provide 4th line escalation for core desktop, application and remote access services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver desktop services via technical delivery and systems administration, including high availability and disaster recovery
  • Creation and management of a stable and secure desktop platform across the organisation, this includes workspace build management and provision of patch and vulnerability management content to relevant teams in line with expected SLA.
  • Establish root cause of complex technical desktop delivery issues through to conclusion
  • Ensure relevant and appropriate technical documentation is established and maintained. Prepares and maintains operational documentation for relevant system software products.
  • Advises on desktop systems development and service delivery for effective use of system software
  • Assists with preparation of software implementation procedures with fall back contingency plans. Installs and tests new versions of system software.
  • Investigates potential and actual service problems and recommends solutions. Follows formal procedures to plan and test proposed solutions
  • Product lifecycle management and productions of roadmaps to support Desktop Engineering team strategy
  • Provide technical assurance criteria and conduct reviews of technical products
  • Maintain and improve installation procedures and standards
  • Performance analysis and diagnostic tool management for impacted hardware and software, quantifying and qualifying and changes made
  • Gathers performance statistics from the IT platforms to enable recommendations for the tuning of system software. Applies system software parameters to maximise throughput and efficiency.
  • Responsible for ensuring that any new/changed services are transitioned in accordance with operational readiness procedures
