Description:
We are receiving applications for a Detachment Services Assistant for the Town of Yarmouth RCMP Detachment. Candidates should be a collaborative team member who can work well in a small office environment with our two additional Detachment Services Assistants. We are looking for a result oriented, hands-on individual who can also work well independently when required, manage multiple priorities and work with various types of personalities. It is essential that they can work well under pressure and be confidential and professional when working with sensitive information.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12 education and successful completion of secondary school in office and/or business administration or equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
- Software knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic mail systems.
- Experience maintaining electronic and/or hard copy filing systems.
- Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to independently establish priorities and proceed with objectives.
- Proficiency in the English language is required (bilingual preferred).
- Working knowledge of the criminal code, municipal government administration, municipal by-laws, and relevant provincial and federal legislation preferred.
Duties of the position include:
- Assesses and responds to enquiries, complaints, and requests for information and services from the public.
- Resolves public and internal complaints through mediation, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Provides administrative support to frontline police officers.
- Operates police radio and various computer equipment using Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), TEAM, JEIN, etc.
- Serves as a Commissioner of Oaths for court related documents and interacts directly with the Supreme Court, Provincial Court, and Restorative Justice personnel.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the Detachment Commander.
- The successful candidate will require a Reliability Status security clearance.
