Northern Trust is looking for Dev-Ops engineer to join its Technology Development Centre Chicago .

Job Description AND Principal Responsibilities

  • The Dev-Ops engineer will be working on strategic cash program and will be responsible for delivering the user stories and for the L2 and L3 support of the Cash Systems .
  • He Should be flexible for upskilling to new tech stack & should be ready to do hands on development .
  • Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities such as reducing manual effort, automation of tasks/resolutions or decreasing production incidents
  • Review and Maintain high standards of knowledge documentation in repository and updates into Service-Now tickets.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships and communication with global stakeholders, self / other IT teams, and business areas.
  • Ability to work with vendors and support staff on support tickets .
  • Should have good business knowledge of the application & should be able assess & highlight the impact of the issue on any of the flows involved to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Primary responsibility is to provide front line support to the business and other IT teams, to ensure continued availability, effectiveness and accuracy of production systems.
  • Provide regular and high-quality updates to all the stakeholders on the progress of the incidents, including SLA risks/breaches.
  • Handle major production incident calls, escalate impacts to dependent teams, involve needed teams in the call to fast-track the work around and get production back to BAU within SLA.
  • Availability to provide Support Coverage during weekends in case of scheduled DR events, release validation efforts and in cases of major issues / failure reported.
  • Should be able to do primary analysis of the issue if the issue occurs.
  • Should be able to interpret the alerts like SiteScope, Dynatrace, checkpoint etc. & refer to it while doing the RCA of the issue.
  • Should be able to do the release process smoothly on weekends & involve appropriate teams in case of any issue identified during release implementation.

Experience/ Skills

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Java/J2EE technologies
  • Good understanding about Spring Integration , Spring boot including JPA/ORM framework

Required Skills:

  • Strong expertise in JAVA 8 , J2EE, RESTful interfaces , Spring Boot, Oracle PL/SQL, JMS ,
  • Experience on Spring Integration , GIT, Maven, Gradle, XSLT, Xquery, Shell scripting
  • Knowledge on REACT framework
  • Experience with IBM MQ, Solace, Kafka
  • Good working knowledge on XML technologies
  • Agile Methodology and Scrum process for software development
  • Develop and test new features and components
  • Write cost effective and fine tune Oracle PL/SQL queries
  • Minimum of ITIL v3 certification
  • Strong written/verbal communications skill-set
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Analytical skills and a structured methodical approach towards statistics and trend analysis.

Preferred/ Recommended Skills:

  • Understands cloud architectures and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
  • Good to have - Batch Support experience using Control-M,Datastage
  • Good to have - Experience with Service Now (IT Service Management tool)
  • Familiarity with one or more of the below banking applications
  • Oracle FLEXCUBE v 12 or higher
  • SAP Fioneer Liquidity Management System
  • Intellect iGTB application suite
