Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the CEO, this position supports the work of the Plattsburgh YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position supports provides administrative support, strategic leadership in financial development to advance the YMCA’s mission through annual giving, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests and provides support to the capital campaign process.

OPERATIONS:

  • Manages the CEO’s schedule as well as schedules for assigned executive staff.
  • Makes travel arrangements as necessary and prepares expense reports.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information in connection with the CEO’s responsibilities.
  • Maintains highly confidential executive and Board files and correspondence and records.
  • Coordinates arrangements for meetings of various committees, task forces, public officials, and groups.
  • Oversight and direct management of all grant related processes for the YMCA.
  • Continually seeking and securing new grants that align with the YMCA’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Maintains computer databases for various reports, committees, records and mailings.
  • Coordinate / Assist with association special events.
  • Maintains Records as directed for the association.
  • Develops effective working relationships with vendors, service groups, community organizations and companies throughout the Plattsburgh region.
  • Assists with gathering data and compilation, in the preparation all national statistical and assigned strategic plan reports.
  • Coordinates/Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Development/Communications:
  • Coordinate/Assist with the Association Annual, Capital, and Planned Giving campaigns.
  • Researches potential funders (i.e., foundations, corporations, etc.) and makes recommendations to Association leadership on funders to pursue.
  • Maintains accurate records of all capital campaign volunteer and donor prospect activity.
  • Manages and Implements an organized system of communications (internally and externally) to provide stewardship to donors regarding grant awards, and donor recognition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, OR marketing and five (5) years of previous fundraising experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven abilities in consensus building.
  • Superior oral/written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong presentation skills required.
  • Experience establishing and cultivating strong relationships with staff and ability to use good judgment, take initiative and make recommendations.
  • Must be a proactive and creative problem-solver, must be able to work both independently and with a broad range of internal and external partners to develop relationships, facilitate collaboration and achieve results.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, with outstanding attention to detail and ability effectively manage complex projects.
  • The ability to professionally represent the Y under a variety of circumstances, including interactions/ meetings with funders, staff and volunteers, and at networking opportunities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising best practices in annual giving, special events and working with volunteers. ? Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Daxko (or similar donor/constituent management database) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter.
  • The ability to convey complex ideas via presentations, emails and face-to-face communications.
  • Able to work productively and accurately while under pressure in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 60 days of hire.
