The Crown Estate is seeking a dynamic and driven Development Manager to join our team, working on across our strategic land portfolio. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality mixed-use development projects, shaping the future of our most strategic opportunities while ensuring sustainability and innovation are at the heart of everything we do.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Development Manager, you will work closely with the Director and Senior Development Manager to navigate projects through every stage of the development lifecycle. From defining the vision and masterplan to planning strategy, budgeting, and community engagement, you will be integral to our mission of creating exceptional spaces that deliver financial, social, and environmental benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project Leadership: Support the progression of major mixed-use development projects, through critical milestones to successful delivery.
  • Planning Applications: Play a key role in preparing planning applications, including managing the Planning Performance Agreement (PPA).
  • Strategic Vision: Help develop the vision, strategic brief, and value creation case for major land projects and programmes.
  • Market Analysis: Proactively analyse market needs, feedback, and data to inform development strategies for residential and commercial sectors.
  • Team Management: Collaborate with the Director and Senior Development Manager to guide a professional team through all development stages, from feasibility to sales and stewardship.
  • Budget Oversight: Assist in managing budgets, financial appraisals, and business cases to secure internal investment approvals.
  • Sustainability & Innovation: Implement strategies that uphold The Crown Estate’s sustainability leadership and integrate innovation into our masterplans and delivery strategies.
  • Community Engagement: Lead stakeholder and community engagement strategies to ensure a place-based approach in key locations.
  • Risk Management: Maintain the project risk register, tracking risks and issues, and escalating as needed.
  • Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely budgeting, business review updates, and internal reporting.
  • External Networking: Build and maintain relationships with public and private stakeholders, including SMEs and MMC operators.
