Description:

HOW WILL I HELP?

At Westpac were building a simpler and stronger bank. Our Enterprise DevOps Team is a core enabler of that vision. We are responsible for the platform of tools, processes and enablement of communities in the creation and delivery of world class technology service offerings. We focus on enabling the flow from concept to working solutions. This is a rapidly evolving domain of essential services with high availability requirements, watertight governance controls and rapid feedback loops. Our team members are key thought leaders in this space where we take pride in our collaborative approach to our pioneering solutions.
We require an experienced DevOps Platform Engineer to help with the design of our end-to-end trusted pipeline ecosystem. You will be responsible for the design, build and support new devops pipelines, templates, tooling and services. Your focus will be on creating repeatable patterns and a library of primitives and ensuring our platform availability and resilience with associated continuous governance and audit built in. You also will assist in our journey into cloud and container orchestration. You will likely have DevOps and Azure/AWS certifications and/or experience. You will ensure your solutions are fit for purpose and operationally ready to service our platform consumers and dependant orchestrations. This is an extremely hands-on technical role. You will have broad knowledge and deep experience across software development, infrastructure, tools and processes. You will, however, have previously deployed, administered and orchestrated repeatable DevOps pipelines at an Enterprise scale. You will also join the team in realising our platform features and supporting our ecosystem of tools and platform processes. You may have technically led or managed a large development shop. You have definitely worked in an Agile environment at scale where you can demonstrate how you have improved the processes you were responsible for. Everything as code means something to you.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experienced DevOps engineer across full stack development, data and infrastructure layers.
  • Strong experience working in CI, CD, CR at enterprise scale.
  • You will have implemented a development process standard and common way of working.
  • Ability to proactively and independently troubleshoot pipeline and build faults and failures.
  • Deep experience with Git and related technologies.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to form proactive working relationships with diverse technical teams, system architects, product owners and platform consumers.
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

HIGHLY REGARDED EXPERIENCE

  • Cloud solution development and production deployment experience via automated pipelines.
  • Orchestration via cloud platform APIs as well as the use of tools such as Terraform.
  • Expertise with Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems administration and networking.
  • Experience in SRE, high availability and secure systems design and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with JavaScript, Perl, or Python programming.
  • Experience with other automation tools such as Ansible/Puppet.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

The ideal candidate will have a BS or MS degree in computer science or related field and relevant industry qualifications. e.g. CHEF, SAFe certified, Azure, AWS and or Hashicorp Certifications.
