Job Description:
Full-Time Dietary Technician/Clerk
Hours: 8am to 4pm
Hourly Rate: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Duties:
Responsible for nutritional screening and assessment of assigned residents.
Responsible for initial interview of assigned residents for food likes/dislikes and/or food allergies.
Responsible for attending interdisciplinary care plan meetings for assigned residents and departments.
Participates in conducting monthly department in-service programs.
Participates in food intake studies and quality assurance audits as assigned.
Responsible for conducting mealtime dining room observation as assigned checking for proper adaptive feeding equipment, proper liquid consistencies and food consistencies.
Participates in nutritional computer work as assigned.
Assists with overall supervision of the kitchen and dining rooms.
Responsible for resident’s weekly menu distribution and/or menu changes.
Responsible for charting pertinent nutritional information in each assigned residents chart on a regular basis including MDS, care plan, and nutritional evaluations.
Assists with coverage for registered dietitian and/or certified dietitian-nutritionist in their absence.
Generating, printing, and delivering of meal tickets to all units/houses.
Building new menus in the Nutrition Module of the Point Click Care Electronic Medical Record.
Assists with completion of dietary audits as well as the compilation of audit results to be presented at the quarterly Quality Assurance Committee meetings.
Assists with labeling of nutritional supplements.
Maintains attendance records for all dietary employees.
Completes the bi-weekly work schedule for all dietary employees and reviews and maintains employee time cards for accuracy.
Tracks the completion of all inservices for dietary employees, including mandatory annual inservices.
Required to cover the front desk receptionist for lunch breaks and when necessary.
Schedules interviews with prospective employees as requested by Dietary Management.
Takes monthly inventory of the emergency water supply and maintains accurate records for both the Food Service Manager and the VP of Long Term Care Services.
Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility’s corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility’s confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.
Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements:
This position is open to a graduate of an accredited college or university with an AAS degree in Nutrition/Dietetics. Two years post collegiate work, experience desirable.
Well-organized with the ability to type, file, keep records, and operate office machinery as necessary.
Knowledge of computers and electronic medical record software programs, preferably Point Click Care.
Ability to work independently with good oral and written communication skills.
