JOB TITLE: Digital Asset Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Research Library, Archives and Collections Information
REPORTS TO: Digital Asset Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: Full

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Digital Asset Manager, the Digital Asset Specialist assists with the management of the museum’s collections of digitized and born-digital assets.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in library and information science, or related field required. Four (4) years of experience working with digital assets, digital archiving and digital preservation, and metadata and data structure standards. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

  • Ability to successfully partner with technical support and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Experience with digital asset management systems (DAMS), Widen experience preferred.
  • Experience with training and providing technical support to internal stakeholders within the digital asset management system.
  • Knowledge of data protection issues.
  • Knowledge of copyright law and an understanding of matters related to use and reproduction.
  • Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours for special events.
  • Must be proficient in the latest version of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with,

connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.

  • Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive, and courteous

interactions that promote positive teamwork. This encompasses going beyond giving and
receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities
requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to
constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with fulfilling internal and external rights and reproductions requests.
  • Support ingestion of assets and management of the Digital Asset Management System.
  • Assist with database cleanup and metadata creation.
  • Assist with creation and update of standards and workflows.
  • Provide training and support to Digital Asset Management System users on system functions and use.
  • Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
