JOB OVERVIEW

The 1819 Innovation Hub is seeking an experienced and creative brand copy and web communications writer. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in planning, executing and deploying content across websites, newsletters and news system. This position will help elevate and enhance 1819’s brand through engaging content.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) year of experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining websites.
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED

  • Familiarity with principle of object-oriented programming and functional programming.
  • Knowledge of user experience design, information architecture principles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage and refresh copy content for distribution across multiple channels, including websites, marketing collateral and social media.
  • Take the lead in creating, disseminating, and implementing best practices for accessible email and newsletter communications, serving as a resource for campus communicators to produce inclusive and user-friendly content.
  • Craft brand copy for print collateral, billboards, digital ads, website, etc.
  • Create content to support a variety of reputation-building strategies: helpful content articles, feature articles, news articles to celebrate accomplishments, and blogs.
