Description:

The PACE department provides education and training for adult learners during the day and evening in a wide variety of part-time and full-time program areas using delivery methods of live in-person, live online and online (asynchronous). Topics span a wide area, including management studies, human resources, project management, supply chain, information technology, marketing and, executive and corporate training.
The Digital Content & Online Course Assistant is a full-time continuing position that will work on setting up and maintaining all Nexus based courses at PACE. All of the 600+ course sections offered at PACE use Nexus as the primary platform for content delivery whether the delivery model is live in-person, live online, or online. This position will also provide operations assistance by booking meetings, assisting with data entry and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school completion or equivalent program of studies with office skills/business training.
  • Completion of post-secondary training program is an asset, such as: Project Management, Business Admin/Analysis, etc.
  • Completion/experience of University or College is an asset.
  • 4 years of directly related office, customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of online learning & digital course content.
  • Experience working within Learning Management Software (LMS) (Brightspace/D2L) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of University of Winnipeg, PACE Professional Studies area an asset.
  • Knowledge of The University’s purpose, its organization and its communication channels.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe Acrobat (modifying, creating and exporting) required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to complete tasks that require a high degree of focus within set timeframes.
  • Able to organize and prioritize projects/responsibilities.
  • Having taken online courses in the past is an asset.
  • High acumen for technology and processes is an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computers including the Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and be committed to seeing a project through completion.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains spreadsheet for each term tracking course-offering details for all courses/sections.
  • Provides data and statistics in relation to course offering details (using spreadsheet and records).
  • Coordinate with Centre for Academic Technology in the creation of online course sites, adhering to guidelines.
  • Ensuring accuracy of data at all points of site creation.
  • First point of formal review process for all course outlines. Review for accuracy in due dates, class dates, and percentage of assessments.
  • Setting up course sites according to PACE’s policy and standards, which includes proofreading items and editing items for accuracy.
  • Providing overall quality assurance to all PACE digital courses.
  • Booking meetings for various projects.
  • Tracking due dates and deadline for projects and communicating those to stakeholders.
  • Attends meetings and is responsible for note taking and distribution of meeting notes.
  • Data entry for various systems such as: Colleague, Online Scheduling, Nexus Communications.
  • Provide research data gathering and beta testing required for various technical projects.
