We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Digital Education Consultant to join our team at Birkbeck, University of London. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment on a 12-month contract, playing a crucial role in the design, development, delivery, and management of effective blended learning for our staff and students.
As a Digital Education Consultant, you will:
- Act as a key point of contact for expert advice on delivering quality, effective blended teaching.
- Work closely with the Faculty partner (Science) and management on implementing new approaches to blended programmes such as designing a module, developing learning materials, running a workshop or designing a Moodle plugin.
- Lead digital education initiatives and projects within the wider Digital Education team.
- Ensure courses within the Birkbeck Learning Environment meet our baseline standards and provide advice/guidance on developing the digital capability of staff and students.
The ideal candidate for the Digital Education Consultant role will have:
- A detailed understanding of how a VLE works (preferably Moodle) and how it can be effectively used in teaching and learning.
- Experience with applying the principles, theory, and practice of technology-enhanced learning.
- A technical understanding of supported learning systems and applications at Birkbeck such as Moodle, Panopto, MS Teams, or Turnitin.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
All Birkbeck’s teaching modules are built with a ‘Birkbeck Blend’ to a consistent quality. In addition, we’re piloting new HyFlex teaching models and Immersive learning pedagogies in newly designed spaces. Therefore, there are opportunities to get involved in exciting new areas.
