ABOUT US

The Dyson Institute is a Higher Education provider offering state of the art employer-sponsored degrees in engineering and technology. We are intimately connected with Dyson, a global leader in technology innovation, and aim to develop the best engineers in the world by combining rigorous academic programmes with professional work on future Dyson products from the outset. Our students incur no tuition fees and are paid employees from the time they join us, building their Dyson careers through a combination of stretching academic study and practical hands-on experience working with a range of teams at Dyson.
The Institute is a small, specialist team with a focus on quality and personalisation rather than scale. We have an exciting 2023-2028 strategy that sets the scene for us to increase our contribution as a strategic asset to Dyson. As our range of academic programmes expands towards postgraduate degrees for existing Dyson engineers around the globe, we are searching for a talented and innovative Digital Learning Design Specialist to join our Smart Campus team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about supporting the development and promotion of the Institute’s strategic technology platforms to enhance our teaching capability, assessment, and experience.

Responsibilities:

As a Digital Learning Design Specialist, you will be part of our Smart Campus team that support students and staff across all our education-based technology platforms.
This role will support credentialised online learning for Dyson’s global engineers, blended models for postgraduate students and enhancing the learning experience for our full-time on-site undergraduates.
The successful candidate will be a domain expert who will be responsible for: providing best practice in online learning design; aiding the development of digital course material, enhancements, and training; and supporting the development of our learning technology platforms.
An important part of this role is to develop a strong working relationship with our academic team to support the implementation of best practices in pedagogic design and development of course material, for both in-person and online teaching.
You will also work with our students throughout their journey with the Institute, and we collectively aim to increase our understanding of the impact of digital technology in relation to equality and diversity in the student experience of teaching and learning in higher education.
You’ll be based on the Dyson technology campus in Malmesbury and will report to the Head of Digital, PMO & Smart Campus Services.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Mentor, train and support academic staff in the practical design and development of engaging, accessible, inclusive, and interactive learning journeys that represent an outstanding digital learning experience
  • Ensure that learning technologies exceed the needs of our learners
  • Oversee and support with the planning, design, and development of high-quality digital content for blended/hybrid programmes
  • Contribute to the planning and development of our Institutional technology roadmap throughout its lifecycle, and managing learning design projects within that develop suitable platforms in conjunction with wider Digital Services, for both academic programme and other strategic needs
  • Stay abreast of digital learning trends and tools in the higher education sector and assess their viability for incorporation with our current technology platforms
  • Contribute to committees and other working groups
  • Notify Head of Digital, PMO & Smart Campus Services of any errors or concerns
  • Work within the relevant frameworks and policies, along with helping support the creation of policies and protocols
  • Support with our Library management as and when needed
