The Role
British Vogue is looking for an energetic, highly motivated and passionate lifestyle journalist to join its digital team during an exciting time of expansion.
The successful candidate will be brimming with story ideas and will be able to turn around clean copy in a fast-paced digital environment. They will thrive working under pressure to tight deadlines, be a team player and have strong social newsgathering skills as well as a proven interest in fashion. Understanding the power of storytelling on digital platforms is a must, as is the ability to optimise stories for search and social, at speed.
The Digital Lifestyle Writer will consistently strive to find distinctive ways to cover news and produce features and galleries in line with British Vogue’s editorial direction and tone of voice, with a specific focus on the social scene, royals, fashion weddings and parties. They will have extensive knowledge of brands, designers and trends, and a sound understanding of how editorial and commercial intersect.
The Digital Lifestyle Writer will work closely with the Digital Director and News and Features Editor for daily content production. They will also work weekends where appropriate, and will collaborate with the wider British Vogue teams including the social and video teams and the features desk.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, hard-working and flexible journalist to join a dynamic digital team at the heart of the world’s biggest fashion title.
The Team
You will be joining a friendly and dynamic team of writers and editors that together ideate, create and publish British Vogue’s digital output across the website and all social platforms. In addition to daily online content, the team is central to the unveiling of print covers that are frequently landmark cultural moments, as well as coverage of major brand events. The digital team works closely with the print team and also with our counterparts in other Vogue markets in the US and beyond.

What will you be doing?

  • To write two or more stories a day for

Vogue.co.uk

– from a party diary to a reactive royal story to wedding coverage to a feature on London’s new party set.

  • To build pieces within the CMS for senior members of the wider team, and to also assist with their SEO
  • To source images for

Vogue.co.uk

  • To react swiftly to breaking news within the Vogue world outside of normal office hours
  • To represent the brand at external events

Who you are:

  • Background of working in a digital editorial environment, writing stories to tight deadlines on a daily basis
  • The ability to quickly adapt to working within a new CMS, and previous experience of writing great SEO content and engaging headlines
  • Thorough knowledge of a broad range of social media channels and a clear sense of what makes for engaging content on each platform; experience of pitching and creating video content is also an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Vogue brand and tone in print and on various digital platforms
  • Good range of contacts across the fashion industry

Where will you be?
We encourage hybrid working but you will be based at the Adelphi in London three days a week. This is where our award-winning Editorial and Content teams sit.
