Description:

Part Time 22.5 hours per week. Fixed Term for 12 months
The Digital Midwife is responsible for providing first line day to day management of the Maternity Information System / Maternity electronic patient record (EPR).
The post holder is a registered midwife with the ability to use all areas of maternity information system and able to identify opportunities to expand and improve the use of the Maternity Information System. They will coordinate and integrate into clinical care the various facets of the system ensuring safe clinical practice occurs by all users.
Has responsibility for ensuring all staff are trained and competent in the use of the various systems used to record care within Maternity Services.
The post holder works closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Clinical Lead Midwives, IT and Information Departments to ensure new systems and upgrades are implemented smoothly within the Department. The post holder will provide ongoing support for staff using the system.
The post holder will work clinically across the Maternity Service to maintain own competence and credibility.
An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.
From 1 st July we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

RESEARCH & AUDIT

To participate in nursing, midwifery and medical research and audit as required.
Is responsible for ensuring quality and project assurance. Instigates and undertakes regular validation checks and clinical audit processes to ensure Maternity Information System usage is of a high standard. Ensures that corrective action is timely and communicated effectively to specific and general users of the system.

Responsibilities:

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain Professional Registration and practice through CPD.
Adhere to NMC Code: professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates.
Maintain personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with Trust and NMC guidance.
Provide expert advice on evidence-based practice in midwifery and maternity digital transformation.
Influence maternity care to be the highest standard whilst exercising professional and personal autonomy.
Qualified Midwife, clinically credible and able to provide Midwifery care to women and their families.
The post holder will liaise between the Maternity System Provider and Maternity lead clinicians to ensure the information system reflects Trust Guidelines
Liaise with Data quality analysts, investigating discrepancies on BI, which requires being able to concentrate for long periods on complex data analysis whilst dealing with interruptions to answer queries from staff.
Provide leadership, project and programme management and serve as key liaison between system suppliers, users, managers and IT department.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

To participate in the Trust Risk Management Policy including the reporting of clinical or non-clinical incidents.
Requirement to undertake PALS/ complaint responses as required.
Undertake Bleep holder documentation when participating in the Bleep rota.
Able to prepare reports relating to the Information System and standard operating procedures.
Organise project related meetings and update action trackers
Work in conjunction with senior managers and clinicians to plan and deliver IT projects in the context of business and operational priorities and available resources.
Ensuring the systems records are kept up to date to minimise any impact on patients. Closing pregnancies where applicable E.g. miscarriages, out of area patients.
The post holder will have editing rights and maximum system privileges and will be responsible for ensuring system editing/deletion is conducted in an auditable and manageable way limiting editing/deletion rights to appropriate system administrators.
