Job Description
Nine.com.au is seeking a digital news producer based out of the 9News newsroom in Melbourne to help drive the output on one of Australia’s biggest news sites and produce high-quality content with a focus on Victoria.

Day to day, you will:

  • Cover breaking news and developing stories out of Melbourne
  • Curate the 9News Melbourne homepage and app.
  • Liaise with the 9News CoS desk, producers, social media team and reporters to ensure the best content broadcast on TV is also online.
  • Attend 9News Melbourne news conferences
  • Pitch your own content ideas in daily digital news conference.
  • Compile analytics reports for the Melbourne newsroom
  • Work with the SEO and social media teams to develop story opportunities.

This is a full-time role and will involve working one day on the weekend. This is a role with work-from-home flexibility but will be office-based for four days a week.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone energetic and engaged, who thrives in a breaking newsroom environment working under deadlines.

What we would like to see:

  • Previous experience in digital news environment but we would be open to this being an entry-level position for an outstanding candidate.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, grammar and syntax
  • An excellent understanding of legal best practice, including defamation laws, essential
  • Understanding of Adobe analytics and SEO best practice advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Canva advantageous.
