The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Digital Payload System Test Engineer to join our Engineering team in El Segundo, CA. This role is responsible for implementing test procedures on flight hardware and verifying all spacecraft subsystems. In addition, performing scripted test procedures, first pass troubleshooting test anomalies, and conducting data review/analysis.
This position is for 1st shift; however, additional shifts maybe required to support program objectives.
Our teams are currently hiring for the following range of experience levels including; Associate, Experienced and Senior Level Digital Payload System Test Engineers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 2+ years of experience with test instrumentation and/or methods
  • 2+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic equipment
  • Experience with digital payload analysis, development, and integration and test

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • An active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Experience working on spacecraft
  • Great teammate, able to work in collaborative environment
  • Strong communication skills

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate (Level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Experienced (Level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (level 4)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs spacecraft systems verification through execution of test procedures
  • Assists in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods
  • Develops simple test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform the test and minimize risk
  • Assists in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware
  • Identifies solutions to basic problems and supports the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools
  • Supports development of test debrief material
  • Participates in evaluation of test performance data
  • Reviews test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
  • Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data
  • Prepares test reports for review
  • Works under general supervision
