Destination Canada is looking for a Digital Product Manager , to join our team in Vancouver as we inspire travellers to explore Canada. The successful candidate will be working under Destination Canada’s Hybrid Working Model. This model requires all employees to work 2-3 days/week in the office. The remainder of the work week can be spent working from a home office.
The Digital Product Manager is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team to manage, maintain and optimize Destination Canada’s websites and web applications, and identify and develop new digital product or services and improvements to existing products and services.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Minimum: Degree from a recognized university in marketing, communications or technology program or other relevant discipline, or combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE: When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the areas of web development, website project management, digital marketing, ecommerce / digital product management.
  • Extensive experience leading the implementation of operational plans and support services, overseeing data management, system integrations and deployment processes.
  • Extensive experience using user-centered web system and design practices including a mobile-first approach in the development of accessible digital products and services.
  • Strong experience using modern agile project management practices, open-source development, and cloud platforms to design, deliver and continuously improve high quality digital products and services.
  • Strong experience managing complex enterprise projects with multiple interdependencies including major business transformations, strategic communications, and the oversight of system integrators.
  • Experience challenging and removing any unnecessary barriers to product delivery.
  • Experience leading change management initiatives across a large organization.
  • Experience in using Google Analytics, Facebook, YouTube and any other Social/Web integration and analytics tools.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of best practices to develop user-centric effective and trackable websites and web applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards compliance criteria and execution on web platforms; as well as data regulations and consent standards.
  • Knowledge of web hosting systems and management, server performance.
  • Knowledge of website analytics design and implementation, quality assurance and insightful analysis and reporting practice (i.e. Omniture, Google Analytics, DOMO, Supermetrics), search engine optimization and search marketing for web properties.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the latest tourism industry trends and of the Canada tourism industry, challenges and opportunities.
  • Knowledge of market research, focus groups, public and media relations, marketing communications, digital marketing and direct marketing is essential.
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles, and applications of general business management with an emphasis on the use of information and the development and implementation of global web standards and content management systems.
  • Knowledge of the Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Strong technical grasp of all aspects of system and application development and a desire to continually improve and innovate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lead through full product cycle from discovery phase through deployment and on-going product maintenance and optimization; consistently advance user interface design, information architecture. Establishment of testing and quality assurance processes, performance evaluation, regression testing.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop objectives and measure outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of industry trends, competition, relevant technologies and emerging issues for websites and web applications.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills including the ability determine stakeholder / client needs, identify, and mitigate risk and barriers, recommend solutions and opportunities, and resolve issues timely.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and react quickly in a busy, changing environment.
  • Strong ability to understand the business implications of decisions and the ability to strive to improve organizational performance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders and prioritize work to meet deadlines and budget.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, industry partners and relevant business contacts.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and manage others.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at various levels of business and technical expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • You’ll work cross-functionally across the organization to support and advance DC’s digital strategy by driving our website product roadmap. Through the delivery of exceptional digital user experiences for Destination Canada’s owned and branded websites to our B2C and B2B audience and stakeholders, you’ll increase the effectiveness of our marketing and communications.
  • Using expert knowledge in all facets of website management and digital marketing, you will consistently review and challenge website performance and usability. You will evaluate and evolve existing technology, and implement new features, capabilities and technology for our digital properties, striving to optimize user experiences and site functionality
  • You will manage several web development and technology systems-related vendor contracts and relationships and will be responsible for domain strategy and the maintenance of our domain portfolio. You will also oversee the structure, performance, and reliability of Destination Canada’s hosting platform.
