JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Accessibility Advisory Services is responsible for the Accessibility Advisory Services social enterprise.
This position provides strong entrepreneurial leadership to grow and manage RHF’s Accessibility Advisory Services social enterprise, meeting annual revenue targets by seeking and delivering excellent services - and realizing RHF’s mission to remove barriers for people with disabilities through the sustainable and long-term success of the RHF Accessibility Certification (RHFAC). RHF offers a range of Accessibility Advisory Services designed to support multi-site and large-scale public and private organizations on their journey towards increased accessibility and inclusion for people of all abilities. Services include accessibility assessments (preconstruction architectural drawing review and existing infrastructure) and accessibility awareness training.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provides all management and leadership of the Accessibility Advisory Services social enterprise;
Leads business development and relationship management for national and international clients;
Oversights and provides fee-for-service accessibility advisory services, including business development, client engagement, submitting proposals, bidding for projects, management/oversight of services (and/or actual conducting of services as appropriate), providing that such services are not in direct competition with external RHFAC Professionals;
Delivers accessibility advisory services while ensuring superior client experience and professional end product;
Defines and executes the offerings of the Accessibility Advisory Services social enterprise;
Develops and manages client relationships deemed strategic for Accessibility Advisory Services, RHF and RHFAC;
Travels to onsite accessibility assessments and/or relevant events, nationally and internationally, as required;
Defines and works closely with the Marketing Communications unit and RHFAC unit to implement marketing and business development strategies, including speaking engagements nationally and internationally;
Develops and maintains productive relations with businesses, industries, government agencies, partners and other organizations in the community that are pertinent to the growth of the Accessibility Advisory Services social enterprise and establishment of RHFAC as a reference standard among the industry;
Assigns, supervises and evaluates the work to RHF staff, subcontractors and interns to complete projects;
Monitors status of expenditures, accounts receivable, billable hours, and maintains necessary records and files reports, and contributes to annual RHF forecasts;
Provides the RHFAC Content Lead and Technical Team with strategic support and in-field experience to inform RHFAC content and training updates;
Serves as an internal accessibility expert across RHF, as required. On occasion, this includes acting as a resource for RHFAC Professionals, RHFAC Training Instructors, and Adjudicators on the practical and efficient application of RHFAC; and
Performs other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: BSc/BA in business administration, architecture, design or relevant field. MSc/MBA/MA an asset.
Certification/Designations: University certification or degree in universal design and project planning preferred. RHFAC Professional designation.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

Minimum 5 years of consulting experience in accessibility in the built environment, preferably in a management role;
Minimum 5 years experience in business development or professional consultation;
Minimum 5 years of project management and business management experience;
Proficiency in MS Office;
Familiarity with business management software (CRM, ERP); AND
Knowledge or experience working with people with disabilities.
