FIVE (5) YEAR PERFORMANCE-BASED CONTRACT

A key leadership opportunity is on offer within the City of Mandurah. Applications are sought for the position of Director Business Services. This is an exciting position that will lead the City’s corporate teams in achieving our strategic objectives in line with the Strategic Community Plan but also make a significant contribution to the development of Mandurah as a great place to live and work.

This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the successful applicant will be expected to not only demonstrate leadership of the Business Services Directorate, but also make a significant contribution to the ongoing overall performance of the City. This position will lead the following teams.

  • Systems & Projects
  • Governance Services
  • Procurement and Contracts Services
  • People and Culture
  • Financial Services
  • Information Management

The key objectives for the role, which can be read in more detail within the position description, are as follows:

  • Provide strategic leadership, expert advice and oversight to Council, City officers, not for profit sector, State and Federal Government’s and other stakeholders in matters relevant to the formulation and development of the strategic and policy objectives of the City.
  • Lead, motivate, encourage, and inspire the development of a highly effective, engaged, and professional Business Services directorate with a clear focus on the delivery of planned outcomes and the continual development of the capabilities and capacities of the individual members of the team.
  • Build quality relationships and deliver outstanding services to key stakeholders including ratepayers, residents, governments, not for profit and private sector and the wider community.
  • Provide effective coordination of Business Services Directorate in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and Council Policy.
  • Lead the integration of departments to ensure a shared vision of improving the quality of life for the City’s residents.

To be considered for this position you will have:

  • Degree in relevant discipline and possession of, or progression towards, post graduate qualifications in management.
  • Significant experience in leading corporate teams in local government.
  • Commitment to self-improvement and professional development.
  • Significant experience in dispute resolution and negotiation skills
  • Well-developed financial management skills for budget preparation, financial and governance controls and project management skills

This position is a Designated Senior Employee on a five-year performance-based contract. A total remuneration package (including superannuation) between $263,000 to $292,000 will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
