The Opportunity
AgeCare is seeking a dynamic professional to fill the role of Director, Care Practices and Standards, a pivotal position within our senior leadership team. In this capacity, you will provide effective leadership for all Clinical Services at AgeCare, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Operational Excellence & Infrastructure Management. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that Age Care’s Continuing Care communities not only meet but surpass all Continuing Care Health Service Standards, Accreditation Canada Standards, and Infection Prevention & Control Standards. As a key senior leader, you will play a vital role in guiding clinical and regulatory direction, aligning seamlessly with Age Care’s Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles, and Strategic Directions. This includes spearheading the Accreditation project plan for all AgeCare Communities, contributing significantly to the development of robust care teams, and ensuring the delivery of safe, quality, resident-centered care.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead successful Accreditation cycles, coordinating plans and implementing reporting on Accreditation processes.
  • Chair AgeCare’s Accreditation Steering Committee, actively evaluating operational compliance through mock surveys.
  • Collaborate with the OpEx team to design the AgeCare Quality Management Framework, considering accreditation requirements, Quality Indicators, Internal Audit System, and Standardized Clinical Documentation.
  • Develop and revise organizational policies, procedures, processes, documentation, and forms to meet regulatory standards.
  • Lead the development of care policies and practices, ensuring compliance with Accreditation and Provincial Standards.
  • Oversee Quality Management initiatives, collaborating with the Director, Quality Management & Safety.
  • Participate in the AgeCare Medication Advisory Council (MAC), ensuring compliance with medication management policies and regulations.
  • Provide expert consultation on regulatory practice and standards to Executive, Human Resources, and Operational leaders.
  • Lead the Ethics Committee, coordinate ethics education, and conduct environmental scanning for evidence-based decision-making.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, currently registered and in good standing with a professional regulatory college under the Health Professions Act.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of senior management experience in a practice and standards environment at a corporate level and 3+ years at a site level in the continuing care sector.
  • Knowledgeable about national and provincial quality standards, practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines as they relate to long-term care, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), and Infection Prevention & Control (IP&C).
  • Proven experience in enabling large-sized organizations at a corporate level to achieve exemplary status with Accreditation Canada.
  • Possesses strong leadership and management skills to ensure the development and promotion of effective and efficient clinical leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capability to work autonomously, independently, and interdependently.
  • Excellent documentation skills and the ability to draft policies and company procedures.
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.
