Description:
Functions as Director for Research Finance providing leadership and direction for clinical research financial administration for non-cancer clinical research groups across the College of Medicine managed by COM Center for Clinical Research Management (CCRM) under direction of CCRM Senior Director; plans, directs and monitors operations of CCRM Research Finance Office; actively participates in CTMO short- and long-term strategic planning activities; initiates new strategies & initiatives and implements plans to achieve goals; leads contract and agreement discussions & execution in collaboration with Office of Sponsored Programs and Technology Commercialization Office; provides expertise and is responsible for the development, implementation, updates, and use of the financial and billing components of the Advarra Enterprise Clinical Research Management System (CRMS); guides and oversees development, negotiation & implementation of comprehensive internal budgets; negotiates and reviews final external research budgets and contracts; identifies and designates study-related clinical services; develops and implements pricing models and establishes payment terms with sponsors; directs and oversees management of grant and contract awards, and cooperative agreements for active and pending research studies; oversees invoicing and reconciliation of payments of study sponsors; develops, establishes and manages procedures & timelines for payment of stipends to research subjects for study participation; collaborates with grants managers on the submission of required research financial reporting to government agencies and sponsors; oversees and enforces fiscal compliance to state, federal, sponsor & industry regulations; initiates and manages financial close-out of completed trials; develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure appropriate fiscal management of budgets and contracts; implements and oversees research financial and operational processing environment to ensure adherence to established internal control structures including segregation of duties in the processing of all financial transactions; collaborates with operations and research integrity & compliance directors with onboarding of all new research groups; supervises fiscal staff. Oversees financial reporting to departments and divisions across CCRM and oversees financial onboarding of new groups into CCRM. Is a primary stakeholder for research related departments across OSU enterprise including OSP, IDS, Office of research, RBO, CCC and Rev cycle management. Oversees and manages research device process, including documentation of standard of care and research billing costs, submission to value analysis committee and purchase agreements.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration or equivalent experience.
ADDITIONAL EDUCATION DESIRED
Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration or equivalent experience.
10 years of financial management experience required; considerable experience in clinical research finance administration required with demonstrated knowledge of clinical research fiscal regulations, guidelines and compliance issues required; supervisory experience required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
15 or more years of relevant experience preferred. Active certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization such as a Clinical Research Professional desired
