Job Description
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Swim Operations, the Director of Competitive Swimming is responsible for providing Case-Driven management and operations to the swim team. Day to Day operations include associate supervision; fiscal management; program development; meets management; scheduling, program optimization/fulfillment; parent communication and volunteer development. The Director, Competitive Swimming is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and leading their associate team in superior levels of member service and engagement.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management/Recreation/Health Sciences or related field is preferred
Essential Functions
· Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill Y objectives
· Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs associates and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates associates’ performance. Develops strategies to motivate associates and achieve goals. Ensures records of associate certifications are current and complete.
· Performs all functions as those supervised and maintains qualifications and certifications of Lifeguard V6. Trainer level certifications in lifeguarding are required within 120 days of employment.
· Oversees swim team coaches as they train and supervise swimmers using a competitive philosophy
· Conducts safe, effective team practices and swim meet warm up sessions
· Communicates as necessary with parents and other coaches regarding assignments, swimmer progress, and upcoming events
· Provides a positive role model for youth in all functions as a representative of The Y in Central Maryland
· Serves as the chief conduit for communication between the Y and the swim team
· Manages all logistics of the team to include: parent committees; team management software; team operations; team initiatives
· Fosters an environment that is positive and motivating to children and peers
· Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, participant/member feedback, and program surveys.
· Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs
· Develops and monitors the swim team budgets to meet fiscal objectives
· Models relationship building skills in all interactions.
· Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
· Maintains high quality standards adhering to or surpassing adhering to or surpassing association standards and care maintenance of program facility and equipment
· Implements Association best practices and policies as it relates to operations including purchasing, payroll, reporting, business management, record keeping
· Incorporates the four character values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and adheres to the YCM Code of Conduct

Required Certifications
Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, YMCA Lifeguarding, Swimming and Diving Course from the Y required within 120 days of hir
