The Director, Consumer Protection and Antitrust Compliance is responsible for the transformation, design and execution of Walmart Canada’s consumer protection and antitrust compliance strategy, including the development of a comprehensive compliance program, and providing direction and oversight on related compliance matters. This position must develop and implement strategies to cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics while developing and leveraging internal and external partnerships and networks to achieve business goals.

Leads strategy design and implementation for Walmart Canada’s Consumer Protection program, working closely with key stakeholders in Legal, IT, the business and compliance. Designing and implementing new strategy and compliance programs in emerging business areas that increase consumer-focused regulatory risk. Analyzes and integrates trends and patterns to determine the root causes of problems and identify solutions. Evaluates short- and long-term implications of decisions. Designing and implementing new strategy and compliance programs to facilitate the establishment and scaling of the Alcohol sales program in certain provinces, as well as the French language compliance program in Quebec.
Leads strategy design and implementation for Walmart Canada’s Antitrust program, working closely with key stakeholders in Global Governance, Legal, IT, the business and compliance. Designing and implementing new strategy and compliance programs to address new regulations and areas of emerging regulatory risk. Analyzes and integrates trends and patterns to determine the root causes of problems and identify solutions. Evaluates short- and long-term implications of decisions. Partnering with Global Governance to transform/adapt the existing compliance program to address new and emerging business initiatives and risks, as well as new technologies in a way that elevates the program for both Canada and Walmart International.

Champions the Consumer Protection and Antitrust program by regularly presenting to senior leaders across the business on developments in the area within Walmart Canada as well as Walmart International. Develops and communicates logical, convincing justifications, including lessons learned, that build commitment and support for one’s perspectives and initiatives. Ensures strategies are communicated in clear and compelling ways. Listens to, leverages, and promotes the diverse ideas, perspectives, and contributions of others across the business.
Responding to regulatory/legal inquiries in a timely manner; problem-solving on ad hoc issues as they arise in collaboration with key business stakeholders. Develops and communicates logical, convincing justifications, including lessons learned, that build commitment and support for one’s perspectives and initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum level of education - University Degree
  • 5 to 7 years of experience
  • 1 to 3 years if supervisory/ management experience
  • Legal experience - either law degree or Law Clerk‎
