Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Strategy and Corporate Development will work on a variety of organic and inorganic growth opportunities and challenges across the business. They will bring a high level of skill, awareness, and efficiency to problem-solving, often in ambiguous and multi-layered situations.
The successful candidate must have a strong background in Strategy and/or M&A. They will need to apply critical thinking, identify the key issues, develop hypotheses, conduct research and analysis, synthesize key themes, apply decision frameworks, identify options, seek out and incorporate diverse feedback, and deliver clear recommendations to partners.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitate the identification of growth drivers and challenges across the Company’s diverse portfolio of businesses.
  • Analyze the competitive space, considering impacts on strategic positioning, disruption opportunities as well as improvement and growth areas.
  • Provide leadership during the formal strategy planning process, coordinating input and analysis of possible growth areas and initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with team members across divisions in technical and business assessment.
  • Provide strategic support through analysis and financial modeling for new business concepts and cross-divisional initiatives.
  • Develop, package, and present business cases, strategic rationale, and recommendations for inorganic and organic growth opportunities.
  • Ensure the projects and workstreams meet scope, timelines, etc. and drive communication and progress messaging to key stakeholders.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience, including experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, and market/financial analysis.
  • Life Sciences industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid financial understanding with the ability to communicate complex business issues/content to leadership at varying levels.
  • Effective at forming relationships, collaborating, and influencing others
  • Experience working with senior executives across various geographies and functions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and high level of self-drive, proactivity, and ownership mentality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Frequent mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.
  • Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.
