POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Cybersecurity and Project Management Delivery Centre (PMDC), reporting to the Associate Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Security Officer, plays a crucial role in advancing project management practices and cybersecurity measures at Centennial College. This multifaceted position combines strategic leadership, planning, direction, and management across a wide spectrum of responsibilities, ensuring the College’s overall success and security.
The Director leads the advancement of Centennial’s project management methodology, overseeing the successful delivery of strategic initiatives and providing visionary leadership in project management practices. This role is responsible for managing personnel, streamlining business processes, and ensuring effective project delivery aligned with industry best practices and leading methodologies. Additionally, the Director is accountable for cybersecurity and leading initiatives to enhance the College’s cybersecurity posture.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Education, Cybersecurity or equivalent.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or other specialized project management designation) is required.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification (or other specialized cybersecurity designation) is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in project management and information technology/cybersecurity leadership.
  • Experience in a similar management position within a post-secondary institution or equivalent experience in the public/private sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, train others in project management best practices, and lead cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Experience with methodologies such as Lean, Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid approaches.
  • Proven experience in managing project and cybersecurity performance monitoring systems.
  • Experience with stakeholder management, including senior leadership level.
  • Ability to handle politically sensitive situations with diplomacy.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to drive organizational change and influence without authority.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office, project portfolio management software, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Develop and implement integrated strategies aligned with the College’s mission, vision, and values for both PMDC and cybersecurity.
  • Lead and manage the PMDC and Cybersecurity teams, promoting high competency, performance, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to set operational targets for both functional areas, ensuring alignment with project management and cybersecurity goals.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the advancement and implementation of project management methodologies, standards, and tools.
  • Support the development and adoption of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for project management.
  • Standardize and champion project management frameworks, processes, measures, templates, and tools.

Cybersecurity Management:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of cybersecurity governance, risk management, and security architecture frameworks.
  • Prioritize and align cybersecurity initiatives with organizational goals, integrating them into project management practices.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the College’s cybersecurity practices and implement measurable actions to enhance cybersecurity operations.

Risk Management and Incident Response:

  • Assess and evaluate cybersecurity controls for information and technology systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact during cybersecurity incidents, coordinating response efforts and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Maintain staff readiness for incident resolution through regular training.

Policy Compliance and Audit:

  • Develop and implement policies to secure sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Lead efforts in internal and external cybersecurity assessments and audits.

Capability Development and Outreach:

  • Expand the capabilities of the PMDC and promote its services as a leading resource in project management and cybersecurity.
  • Provide leadership for cybersecurity initiatives and oversee the College’s cybersecurity and IT compliance programs.
  • Build and maintain partnerships to foster collaboration and effective project and cybersecurity management.
