Description:

Overview:
As the Director, Digital Services, you will be responsible for planning and directing the delivery of quality digital services and IT service management to the corporation and its external business partners. You will establish and own the strategies necessary to build and maintain secure, efficient, cost-effective, leading-edge information and technology solutions for end user computing and digital workplaces that support the corporation’s overall goals and objectives, and the needs of its business partners.
As the owner of IT service management processes and frameworks, the Director ensures the application of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based service management processes throughout the Information and Technology division, in support of business objectives.
The Director contributes to the successful implementation of strategic corporate initiatives and is responsible for providing assistance and leadership in relation to the sustainment and growth of enterprise computer systems. Through the Testing & Quality Assurance team, the Director ensures that projects and Production Support are empowered to achieve acceptance for their system changes. Through this team, the Director is also responsible for ensuring that applications meet legislative and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall accountability for the teams that deliver and support end user computing technology.
  • Manages on site staff in the effective and efficient delivery of end user computing technologies and IT service management functions, ensuring day to day operational delivery, customer problem resolution, customer satisfaction, and meeting of service levels as defined by service standards.
  • Accountable for the design of a positive and optimal end user experience for the IT services provided to the organization.
  • Oversees the selection of disaster recovery strategies, ensuring that strategies are aligned with the corporate business continuity plans and are developed in collaboration with business unit staff, external business partners and key IT staff members
  • Directs the research, planning, development and implementation efforts of the directorate to provide cost-effective, leading-edge information and technology solutions required to meet the needs of the corporation and its business partners.
  • Contributes to the development of enterprise standards and technology architecture, technology evaluation and transfer, and the IT governance process.
  • Responsible for all activities of a Director, including management of a significant operating budget, participation in strategic planning, long term human resource planning, budgeting for special projects, and improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, workforce planning, and staff development planning, including a focus on succession planning.
  • Keeps current on business knowledge, internal to the function and across the Corporation. Seeks out development opportunities to expand knowledge and experience.
  • Represents the company on Boards and on related industry and other committees, task forces and project teams and maintains relationships with external, related businesses, government agencies and industry contacts

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Business or applied Science, or related discipline.
  • Two ITIL Intermediate Certificate courses is an asset.
  • CoBIT 2019 certification is an asset.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification is an asset.
  • Lean Greenbelt (process improvement) certification is an asset.
  • Ten years of related experience in the IT Industry, including:
  • Five years of progressive leadership experience, of which three are related to service management processes and governance and/or end user computing technologies.
  • Five years managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of information technology management, including hardware and software.
  • Advanced communication skills to convey technical information in a clear, concise and understandable manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of business processes, particularly those pertaining to insurance.
