This position will champion, promote, and guide the Health System’s equity and inclusion strategy and diversity initiatives across our health system. The Director will lead the collaborative effort of the Health System’s workforce including employees, physicians, residents, students and volunteers to provide an engaging and inclusive work environment. In collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer, leadership and staff, this position will oversee all equity and inclusion and diversity programs and initiatives, program metrics, insights, surveys, internal and external customer consultation, building Equity and Inclusion capabilities internally and with any associated business partners of the health system.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

  1. Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, business, education, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Five (5) years demonstrated experience advocating for and implementing change within a multicultural environment.
  2. Five (5) years prior leadership experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Prior healthcare experience.

  2. Create a cohesive, system-wide and health system-focused Equity & Inclusion strategy and operationalize it into a concrete working plan.
  3. Consult with senior leaders on inclusion strategies to enable business performance.
  4. Engage and network with the broader WVUHS community to learn, lead and partner on matters of equity & inclusion; strategically align with outside organizations to help augment our strategy and create ground-breaking thought-leadership.
  5. Support senior leadership with development and implementation of system equity & inclusion strategies, including recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention.
  6. Serve as a subject matter expert and partner to the business by continuously analyzing and presenting talent demographics, monitoring data trends and providing insights into the data collected.
  7. Identify, build, and sustain community partnerships to support system equity & inclusion projects/plans/initiatives and business strategies.
  8. Promote a cohesive and inclusive overarching culture while maintaining a sense of local identity in various office locations.
  9. Encouraging and moderating open and practical conversation to lead teams to a greater understanding of equity & inclusion
  10. Build bold, creative inclusion initiatives that demonstrate leadership as a leader, innovator, ambassador, collaborator, partner, and catalyst in mobilizing employees along the inclusion journey.
  11. Will bring thought leadership, perspective and vision to create and implement impactful programs.
  12. Ensuring continuous learning regarding, equity and inclusion within WVUHS’s organizational culture.

  3. Confident in facilitating, presenting, and speaking to both internal and external audiences.
  4. Proven track record of leading company-wide initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
