JOB TITLE: Director – Food tech
LOCATION: London
HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time in the office.
About this opportunity
We’re currently seeking a visionary and strategic Director to establish and lead our coverage of the fast growing Food tech industry. Food tech is a new industry within the Consumer & Tech sector coverage team, and you’ll be responsible for developing our proposition to serve this fast-growing industry, crafting this around client needs.
You’ll lead a small team dedicated to this space with the mission to grow a new client portfolio. This role is pivotal in tapping into a high-growth market segment, driving innovation within the bank, and establishing Lloyds Banking Group as a key player in the Food tech landscape, an industry which will be critical to feeding the UK and the world sustainably.

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a strategy and vision for coverage of the Food tech industry, aligning it with the bank’s overall objectives and market trends.
  • Define the optimal client/product mix to maximize growth and profitability.
  • Drive efficiency and agility within the initiative, exploring and implementing new approaches to enhance our operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and mentor a team of coverage bankers, providing guidance and support in client engagement and business development.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients in the Food and Tech sectors, understanding their unique needs and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering strategic insights and leveraging the bank’s capabilities to drive value.
  • Collaborate with specialized product teams within the bank to deliver comprehensive solutions that meet the evolving needs of Food tech clients.

  • Deep understanding of the Food tech landscape, including emerging trends, technologies, and market dynamics.
  • Outstanding team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others towards shared objectives.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical abilities, coupled with a track record of developing and implementing successful business strategies.
  • Excellent communication and partner management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across different teams and levels of the organization.

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks

If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
