Reporting into Global Business Services (GBS), Global Payroll is a critical, dynamic, and evolving function that is responsible for the accurate pay of over 129,000 employees across the world.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Global Payroll Transformation will have a demonstrated track record of successfully working in a progressive payroll leadership position within a global delivery environment. The Director will possess strong leadership and change management skills as we are amid significant growth and transformation. This highly visible role will lead company-wide initiatives that support the transformation of our payroll organization globally, delivering a multi-year Global Payroll roadmap, supporting merger & acquisition activities, and promoting our governance model. This senior payroll leader will work in close partnership with other workstreams, program sponsors and stakeholders requiring strong relationship building and negotiation skills. Driving the success of virtual teams will require excellent communications skills and flexibility as Thermo Fisher operates in every time zone. Evidence of tangible, measured results will be required of candidates during the interview process.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and work-related experience
  • Ability to operate within a multitude of formal and informal networks while managing the competing interests of varied stakeholders
  • Must be a skilled communicator and proven relationship builder
  • Expert ability to identify and solve complex problems; to synthesize large quantities of complex data to generate meaningful insights
  • Absolute ability to operate independently and leading through ambiguity and change, and capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Stellar knowledge of core, end to end payroll processes and procedures including controls
  • Workday (HCM & Time modules) and ADP product suite advanced knowledge
  • Advanced program management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Engages with internal/external subject matter experts to define a robust transformation plan, identifying critical internal resource needs and mapping interdependencies across various functions.
  • Establish and implement a robust governance approach, including a strong voice of the customer instituted through the steering committee.
  • Manage a complex portfolio of global implementations and large mergers & acquisitions.
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects including meeting milestones and accurate delivery of ROI.
  • Lead deployment of new tools, systems, processes to aid in the quality, efficiency, and delivery of payroll processes. Prepares and delivers program milestone updates to an executive audience
  • Identifies program risks and opportunities and measures their potential impact against project objectives and KPIs, ensuring the mitigation actions are assigned to appropriate stakeholders and implemented to full effect.
  • Manage/Co-manage a diverse team of talent among multiple regions. Coach, mentor and provide leadership development to team members on a regular basis.
  • Storytelling of initiatives to various levels within and outside of the Thermo Fisher, including C-levels
