POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President, Grocery Sales, the Director, Grocery Sales is responsible for identifying opportunities for maximizing sales profitability, growth, and market penetration within the Grocery business for Retail and Foodservice. The Director, Grocery will provide strategic direction to the team of
National Account Managers and will be responsible for managing/building new customer relationships.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and execute strategies and sales plans to identify opportunities to maximize sales profitability through growth and market penetration;
  • Develop incremental business with existing Grocery Customers in Retail and Foodservice;
  • Establish new customers and distributors for the grocery market;
  • Develop and build strong relationships with customers/distributors at senior levels;
  • Provide leadership to National Account Managers to drive sales and volume for retail and foodservice with emphasis on profitable growth through business development;
  • Develop the annual business plan in support of annual goals and objectives;
  • Develop and execute an aggressive merchandising support plan for all existing and new proprietary products, maximizing advertising and promotional activity;
  • Responsible for reviewing and monitoring the P&L for grocery for retail and foodservice;
  • Prepare and present quarterly business status reports, plans and strategic recommendations to the VP, Retail Sales;
  • Development of customer presentations and proposals including new product proposals, business reviews;
  • Effectively manage and reconcile all rebates, allowances, deductions and receivables with the applicable trading partners;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the market, including trends and competitors in the market;
  • Participation in industry events, trade shows, customer meetings, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Degree or College Diploma with 7-10 years’ of industry experience, with part of that time leading and managing a sales team;
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and expertise in grocery products;
  • Proven track record with delivering results;
  • Proven experience in grocery market;
  • Proven ability to generate new customers and build business with existing customers;
  • Advanced computer skills including excel, word, power point and outlook.
