JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the AVP, Health Solutions Enablement & Growth, the Director, Health Solutions Growth is accountable for growing income for a variety of health solutions products by increasing client adoption and end user utilization. This will be achieved across a number of different distribution channels, including Group Benefits, other Sun Life Canada BUs (such as GRS), external third parties, and Canadians more broadly. While each product and channel will have its own specific approach, the mandate will generally include developing strategies, understanding consumer and client needs and opportunities, building and executing on go-to-market plans, strategically selling with partners and employers, and collaborating closely with the relevant product teams. This role will be a critical part of the overall Health Solutions leadership team, ensuring our solutions are embraced and used by clients. The leader will also play a pivotal role in ensuring Sun Life Health achieves its commercial ambitions. This adoption and utilization will drive important health outcomes for Canadians, directly contributing to our purpose.

Responsibilities:

Develop strategies across products and channels

  • Build robust strategic roadmaps, identifying key workstreams and initiatives and tactics required for success
  • These would include but may not be limited to:
  • Setting growth targets
  • Building and co-creating marketing plans
  • Setting product parameters
  • Coordinating any development or IT work necessary
  • Identifying appropriate customer segments
  • Helping make medium and long term product decisions
  • Adapting existing products to meet requirements for new channels

Research customer needs

  • Work proactively with other Sun Life BUs to understand their strategies, products, and ambitions in the health space
  • Collaborate and identify areas of opportunities where existing or future Health Solutions can help augment existing product offerings or potentially be introduced to clients
  • Understand the partnership environment beyond the Sun Life ecosystem; determine which entities have health solution needs that Sun Life Health can help solve
  • Help respond to inbound inquiries to screen and identify new commercial opportunities for Sun Life Health

Execute on go-to-market initiatives

  • Collaborate with existing teams to execute on marketing plans, including the development of collateral, communications, and activation strategies
  • Develop required tracking, reporting, and monitoring of the sales funnel across different channels and products

Sell to clients and partners

  • Lead strategic discussions with large opportunities
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Sun Life Health solutions products while aiming to partner to help solve key challenges for the prospective client
  • Close sales opportunities through business development acumen
  • Liaise with our existing business development teams and partner commercial teams where applicable
  • Oversee key implementation activities to ensure a smooth launch

Collaborate closely with product teams

  • Work in conjunction with product teams to understand the ‘art of the possible’ and ensure alignment between product features/capabilities and market commitments and sales levers
  • Set guardrails for customization and default offerings; collaborate where necessary to meet customer needs
  • Provide an ongoing feedback mechanism from BD and commercial teams in the spirit of continuous improvement and product evolution

Achieve growth targets

  • Accountable for growth targets across a variety of Health Solutions products and offerings
  • Targets may include income but also related metrics including reach, registration, utilization, and more
  • Targets may be shared with other Health Solutions product teams and business development teams
