Position introduction:
As a burgeoning health-tech company, we stand at the intersection of innovation and patient-centred care, building a state-of-the-art remote patient monitoring platform. Our dedication to excellence has propelled our product to impressive sales successes. However, the rapid growth and the dynamic nature of the health-tech landscape have unveiled certain technological and expertise gaps within our engineering efforts. Our platform has reached a critical juncture where robust engineering, informed by industry best practices, is imperative. With the increasing demand for secure, scalable, and efficient platforms in the medical sector, it is paramount that we fortify our technical foundation. Ensuring that our infrastructure aligns with the best in the industry not only guarantees a seamless experience for health professionals but also underscores our commitment to patient safety and data security.
You bring these skills:

Must haves:

  • Hands-on mentality in Cloud Infrastructure and Management:
  • AWS: Experience in deploying, managing, and optimising AWS services. Alternatively, expertise with Azure or GCP is also valuable.
  • Kubernetes: Proficiency in orchestration and container management.
  • Pulumi: Infrastructure as Code (IaC) proficiency for cloud resource management. Terraform expertise would also be a good fit.
  • Docker: Containerization experience.
  • Harvester HCI: Knowledge in managing hyper-converged infrastructure. Familiarity with other HCI solutions can also be considered.
  • EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service): Experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes on AWS. Alternatively, expertise with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) would be fitting.
  • S3 (Simple Storage Service): Knowledge in using AWS’s scalable object storage service. Familiarity with comparable solutions like Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage or MinIO is also pertinent.
  • Identity and access management, Authentication & Authorization Flows:
  • AWS IAM: Proficiency in managing users, permissions, and roles in AWS. Equivalent expertise in Azure’s Identity and Access Management or GCP’s Cloud Identity & Access Management is also acceptable.
  • JWT (JSON Web Tokens): Proficiency in token-based authentication.
  • OAuth & OIDC (OpenID Connect): Deep understanding of these authentication and authorization protocols. Familiarity with their workflows, grants, and best practices is essential.
  • Networking:
  • Advanced networking skills: Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex networks.
  • Ubiquiti Unifi Network: Experience in deploying and managing Unifi networks. Expertise with other major networking solutions will also be relevant.
  • Programming and Software Development:
  • TypeScript, Java, and Dart: Deep knowledge, best practices, and proficiency in these languages. Experience with any other modern strong-type programming languages is acceptable.
  • Clean code practices: Experience in writing maintainable and scalable code.
  • Knowledge of optimal database structures: Ability to design and implement efficient and scalable database structures. Experience with various database systems, both relational and NoSQL, is beneficial.
  • CI/CD and Release Management:
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Ability to design, implement, and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines. Experience with tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI would be pertinent.
  • Release process expertise: Knowledge in defining proper release processes especially in a regulated environment.

Nice-to-have

  • Platform Architecture
  • High-availability: Ability to design and implement systems that ensure maximum uptime.
  • Data-encryption: Expertise in applying robust encryption techniques, ensuring data security.
  • Zero-knowledge platforms: Experience with platforms that do not require knowing user data contents. General expertise in data security and privacy solutions is key.
  • Data-replication: Ensuring data consistency and availability across platforms and regions.
  • Health-Tech, Regulation and Compliance
  • Health-tech sector regulations: Understanding of medical device and patient data regulations.
  • FHIR: Proficiency in data exchange practices revolving around FHIR. Knowledge of other data exchange standards in health-tech can be useful.
  • CI for medical-grade products: Ability to design a continuous integration process that complies with medical regulations.
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Refactoring and restructuring: Ability to support the architectural transformation process towards a well-engineered platform.
  • Best practices implementation: Knowledge in bringing industry best practices to the current team and platform.
