WE’RE A LEADING ONLINE REVIEWS PLATFORM, FREE AND OPEN TO ALL. OUR MISSION IS TO BE A UNIVERSAL SYMBOL OF TRUST. WE ARE WELL ON OUR WAY — BUT THERE’S STILL AN EXCITING JOURNEY AHEAD OF US. DO YOU WANT TO JOIN US AT THE HEART OF TRUST?

We are looking to hire an experienced and enthusiastic, Legal Director to lead the approach we take to employment law matters within our fast-paced, dynamic, and fun Legal & Privacy team. The team handles a broad range of often complex and novel matters at the forefront of trust, helping Trustpilot scale across multiple jurisdictions in pursuit of its mission to become a universal symbol of trust.
This is an important and varied role which is very much ‘hands on’ and will involve operating as key contact and trusted legal advisor to our fantastic People & Community Team; leading on all employment law matters globally (both contentious and non-contentious) and providing frontline support to all strategic projects which have a people impact, at a time when we are enjoying rapid growth and scaling into new markets. For the right candidate, this role will also offer the opportunity to get exposure to broader corporate and commercial legal issues, and to make a real impact to Trustpilot’s future growth.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You have a right to practice law in England & Wales, Scotland or Denmark.
  • You have a minimum of 10 years’ PQE gained at least in part in an in-house environment (typically in the technology sector), .
  • You have a comprehensive employment law background, with experience of working across multiple jurisdictions. Ideally, you also have experience advising on non-employment related matters within a commercial setting.
  • You are proactive, a keen learner and take responsibility for your own work.
  • You have high attention to detail but are pragmatic and pride yourself on your ability to give practical, business-oriented advice.
  • You are focused and enjoy the buzz that comes from having multiple matters on the go at the same time.
  • You are always looking for ways to improve things and use your own initiative to propose solutions where you identify problems.
  • You have extensive organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to navigate multiple demands and work at speed to meet tight deadlines.
  • You are collaborative with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels across multiple locations.
  • You are a “tech-savvy”, fun, creative and positive person, who maintains focus in a busy setting.
  • You are comfortable working both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced, global organisation.
  • You are an innovative, commercially-minded individual who has an interest in, and desire for new technology, problem-solving and improving process delivery.
  • You speak and write English fluently - it’s our business language within Trustpilot.
  • Knowledge of Google suite, MS Word & Excel and DocuSign is desirable.

STILL NOT SURE?

We are Open to All, which means we want everyone to feel like they can see themselves at Trustpilot. We’re keen to hear about your experiences as well as how you can help to create a fantastic culture for our amazing Trusties. So, don’t worry if you’re looking at this job description and feel like you don’t meet all the requirements, we’d still really like to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as primary point of contact for legal support to our People & Community Team on a wide range of employment, reward and property/office related issues, across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partnering with the People & Community Team leadership on all strategic projects which have a people impact, assisting to shape strategy in this area.
  • Horizon scanning for new legislation, assisting to ensure continued compliance with local employment laws as Trustpilot scales globally.
  • Strengthening legal and policy frameworks in order to ensure the delivery of a consistent approach to people related issues across the globe, including refreshing and standardising template documents, updating HR policies and delivering training to key stakeholders.
  • Acting as SME on employment-law related topics within the Legal & Privacy team and supporting colleagues on topics that sit at the intersection between employment and other legal issues, for example employee privacy rights and litigation.
  • Supporting other key stakeholders across the business with a broad variety of corporate, commercial and compliance related matters including M&A, audit and co-sec work.
  • Identifying and implementing new, innovative and automated ways of working, utilising technology where possible to create greater operational efficiencies across the wider Legal & Privacy team.
