at  Victorian Ombudsman

Reporting to the Deputy Ombudsman, the role of the Director, Legal is to provide an in-house legal advisory service to the Victorian Ombudsman Office. The success of the role and the broader Legal Team will be through leading and driving a culture of integrity and high performance to provide quality oral and written legal advice across the organisation on a diverse range of issues relating to the Ombudsman’s duties, powers and functions.

THE ROLE:

A Bachelor or Laws, Juris Doctor or equivalent qualification or be admitted (or be eligible for admission), to the legal profession as an Australian Lawyer within the meaning of the Legal Profession Act 2004 is required for this role.
Effectiveness in this position requires demonstrated experience in administrative law, managing and developing legal staff, proven research and analysis skills and be able to make sound judgements while under pressure, have excellent written communication skills, high level oral and interpersonal communication skills as well as experience working in a legal capacity for government, local government or statutory authorities.
