Cochlear is looking for a Director - Manufacturing to lead and manage manufacturing resources to deliver short to mid-term targets in line with the overall manufacturing strategy.
The role will require the development and execution of plans to meet critical business outcomes including manages the impact to new technology and processes, improvements in flexibility, yield and costs through the ongoing development of human capability.
Reporting to the VP Manufacturing, Sydney, this is a permanent full-time role based in Cochlear’s global headquarters in Macquarie University.

Your responsibilities will include…

  • Establish, develop and coach team to meet current and future business needs.
  • Develop and drive short to mid-term (1-3 years) department strategy to deliver production targets in the areas of People, Quality, Capacity, Customer Service and Cost
  • Budget department financial expenses and headcount in order to deliver on business objectives. Prioritizes project to deliver on business priorities.
  • Coach manufacturing managers to ensure development plans and performance assessments exist for Team Leaders and Team Members
  • Drive engagement of Team Members by instituting appropriate ‘people’ processes and practices, evolving their application and ensuring compliance and consistency.
  • Ensure stepped capacity plans are in place and in line with regional requirements - work with planning, Manufacturing Network Optimisation and other relevant stakeholders to ensure capacity remains flexible and adaptable to spikes in market demand while continuously improving structural costs (labour, material and overhead)
  • Develop, articulate and communicate a clear vision/strategy for own area and contribute towards the creation of a vision for the broader manufacturing organisation
  • Supporting Cochlear’s Global Supply Chain transformation program

About You:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience managing a large manufacturing workforce in a matrix organisation
  • Developing human capital capabilities
  • Experience with delivery of multi-faceted change initiatives, including operating model and ways of working
  • Time & Attendance System knowledge, ideally Kronos
  • Experience in a regulated industry is highly regarded
  • Experience working on continuous improvement projects with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others and build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
