Description:

The Director, Nursing Services is responsible for providing strategic direction on the development of community nursing in alignment with national healthcare priories and translates the organizational vision, mission and values into the hospital practice.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Registered Nurse with current SNB Registration.
  • Degree in health-related subject or equivalent with post-basic certificate / Advanced Diploma in a Nursing specialty.
  • Preferably a Master Degree in health-related subject or equivalent (or working towards).
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive clinical and administrative acute care experience.
  • 3 years in the role of either the Assistant Director of Nursing or as the Director of Nursing of a medium to large size acute care hospital with demonstrable experience of leading and effectively managing change in large complex environments.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of current issues in nursing with good understanding of principles and practices to deliver reliable and safe services.
  • Sound understanding of governance systems and their application in Ang Mo Kio – Thye Hua Kwan Hospital.
  • Proven project management skills, with evidence of delivering large scale projects.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate teams.
  • Team player with excellent leadership and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains oversight and provides inputs to the professional standards of the nursing workforce within the organization.
  • Inspires, motivates and influences nurses to continuously strive for excellence in practice standards.
  • Set strategic directions to strengthen and extend community networking, build and maintain alliances to enhance population-focused practice.
  • Monitors, analyses, plans and provide yearly manpower, capital and operating budget to ensure adequate resourcing of nursing manpower, equipment and supplies to meet service needs
  • Reviews and evaluates policies, strategies and systems to advance nursing practice, and to improve health and integrate care for the patients.
  • Ensures nursing workforce adherence to guidelines and protocols in maintaining professional boundaries and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, caregivers and/or community partners.
  • Leads and spreads collaborative improvement efforts to redesign and improve care coordination and integration.
  • Develops and evaluates talent development and performance management strategies within the organization to build nursing capability.
  • Develop strategies and sustain a talent pool for succession planning and mentorship to develop effective nursing leaders.
  • Leads the senior nursing leadership team to address performance problems and set standards for behaviour and professional conduct.Evaluate organizational training and development policies and provide recommendations considering organisation and national needs.
