Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP, and Chief Nursing Executive, the Director of Clinical Services portfolio includes Emergency, Perioperative, Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care, and Mental Health Programs and is responsible for enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the continuum of patient care. This is achieved by providing the framework to support advancement and continuously improve professional practice, in accordance with current Standards of Practice. The Director of Clinical Services contributes both strategic and operational insight to service planning and implementation, and contributes to goal accomplishment consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Stevenson Memorial Hospital.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Accountability for the coordination and direction of all patient care and staffing related activities within their respective area.
  • Collaborating with leadership teams to ensure effective coordination of efforts for optimal patient care.
  • Providing exceptional and visionary leadership in the development of program, organizational and financial plans.
  • Fiscal accountability for the program’s financial resources, including the annual budget.
  • Individual and team performance expectations.
  • Providing direction and guidance to manage human resources appropriately (recruit, hire, train, coach, discipline and terminate staff).

The Director of Clinical Services collaborates with the Physician Leaders, Directors, and other team members to ensure effective teamwork, implementation of the program’s recommendations, achievement of the targeted outcomes and the effective and efficient use of the resources within the program.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Current CNO registration - BScN or associated degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years management experience at the Manager or Director level in either Emergency and/or Perioperative Departments.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in the areas of Emergency, Perioperative, Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care, & Mental Health Programs (preferred)
  • Leadership experience in a small/medium community hospital setting
  • Strong understanding of processes and systems in an acute care setting
  • Leadership Certificate or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in adult education, mentoring, leadership and coaching
